A checklist for talent's progress

Checklists make sense and are a useful way to quickly judge if you are on track to get where you want to get to.

This is a checklist to see if a graduate is on track.

  1. Can they name the seven strengths they bring to their role?

  2. Can they explain what excites them about the business?

  3. Do they "know" how the people they work with see them?

  4. Do they know what they want their next role to be?

  5. Do they know the great managers they want to work with?

  6. What are the top behaviours they are working on?

  7. What new skills and knowledge are they currently actively learning?

  8. What are their manager's priorities and big wins?

After 6 months in the business if a grad can answer 7 of these questions they are on track.

If less than 7 then it is time to get them focused.

Of course, these apply just as much for all talent in a business!
